1 This is an evaluation for a movie written
by William Akana. The author thinks this is an excellent movie and especially targeted
for video and anime fans. However, the brilliant special effects, dialogues and
artistic cinematography in this movie make it can be enjoyed by all audences.
2 I have never seen the movie. However,
Akana’s vivid description in paragraphs 7-9 made me feel I have already watched
the movie. Akana emphasizes the artistic cinematography and editing in
paragraphs 7-9. He provides some sensory details such as “the shot assumes a
points of view from Pilgrim’s
perspective looking up to the band on the edge”, “the shot quickly cuts to c
close up of Gideon’s eyes”, and “ in a series of fast-paced jump cuts, quickly
dispatched the bad guys before charging up the pyramid”. It made me imagine a picture
that a warrior overcame many adversities and came to the last scene to fight
with the final boss for his lover. It made me feel curious and exciting, so I
decided to watch this movie.
3 I think Aknan’s argument that the film’s
special effect is totally convincing. Because he provides many good description
and details for the special effects about the types, how it looks like and how
it enhances the movies. I can easily imagine the scene that he narrated. If the
special effects are not true or he hasn’t seen the movie, I think he cannot do
a so good depiction. According to Akana’s description, I think the movie Scott
Pilgrim s the World is a comedy film with a lit bit magic. However, I do not
think the film can be appreciated by all audience. For example, some old
persons many have different aesthetic appreciation. Therefore, they may not enjoy this movie. On the
other hand, another movie named “Kung Fu” also contains many brilliant special effects. These special
effects made the fight scenes in the film exciting.
